NT 4.0 Setup - Blinking Cursor
The following problem appears when installing NT 4.0 Workstation.
After you are prompted to remove the floppy disk and CD-ROM... when the pc
reboots all I get is a blinking cursor. I have tryed the installation a number
of different times and ways and I checked to be sure the partition is active.
I have read every FAQ/knowledge base article I can find on the Internet but
none addresses this problem.
My hardware consists of the following:
Intel 166 MHz MMX
Tyan Titan III motherboard with Award 4.1 or 4.01 BIOS
48 meg ram
Diamond 3D 3000 video card
Maxtor DiamondMax 5.1 gig EIDE hard drive
I used partition magic 3.0 to split the drives into a 3 gig and 2 gig
partition. I installed Win 95 rev B. in the 3 gig and NT 4.0 in the 2 gig
partition. Upon successful installation of NT I intendto use the boot manager
program that came with pm 3.0. I did check to be sure the NT 4.0 partition was
active. I have tryed installing NT into the 2 gig partition with it setup up as
both a FAT and an NTFS partition. I also reduced the size of the partition.
Initially I ran Microsoft's NT Compatibility program and it supposedly said
that NT should run fine on my machine. I also checked the hardware in my pc
against Microsoft's hardware compatiblity list.
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated! Reply to me at:
