They aren't in your c:\windows\command subdirectory already?

Since it is a copyrighted program, only Microsoft (and possibly
IBM) could allow you to download it.  If it isn't on either of
their sites, you might be out of luck for that avenue.

All the old ms-dos programs were still included on the WIN95 CD, along with
a batch file to install them.  Memmaker is one of them.

The batch file uses the SETVER command to fool certain programs into
thinking they are running on an older version of ms-dos.  If your win95 cd
is in drive d:, try running:

If for some reason you don't have an "OLDMSDOS" directory on your operating
system CD, get the file OLDDOS.EXE from Microsoft instead, at

(WARNING:  Do not use the UNDELETE program in this set with FAT32-formatted
hard drives.  That is especially of interest to Win98 users).

There are a lot of useful and interesting files on your operating system CD
that are not automatically installed.   Feel free to browse!

My son-in-law recently had Win 95 (I don't know which release!)
installed over Win 3.1 on his computer.  He tells me that when it boots
to Win 95, he gets an error message to the effect that a switch being
used with memmaker.exe is wrong!

Where could I tell him to look to see where memmaker.exe is attempting
to run?  Sounds like something out of Win 3.1 but I'm at a loss to
advise him on where to look! An *.ini file, Registry??

Please post here or reply via e-mail.
