Svchost spikes to 100% CPU usage

I've noticed that one particular instance of Svchost has
been causing a spike to 100% CPU usage at regular
intervals of something from every 5 seconds to every 10
seconds.

This is what I got on the tasklist for the particular
svchost:

AudioSrv
BITS
Browser
CryptSvc
Dhcp
dmserver
ERSvc
EventSystem
helpsvc
lanmanserver
lanmanworkstation
Messenger
Netman
Nla
RasMan
Schedule
seclogon
SENS
SharedAccess
ShellHWDetection
srservice
TapiSrv
TermService
Themes
TrkWks
uploadmgr
winmgmt
WmdmPmSp
wuauserv
WZCSVC

I'm running with the following configuration:

OS Name                 Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version                 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Build 2600
OS Manufacturer         Microsoft Corporation
System Manufacturer     Twinhead
System Model            N222S1
System Type             X86-based PC
Processor               x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 10
GenuineIntel ~1002 Mhz
BIOS Version/Date       American Megatrends Inc. 062710,
07/15/1997
SMBIOS                  Version 2.3
Windows Directory       C:\WINDOWS
System Directory        C:\WINDOWS\System32
Boot Device             \Device\HarddiskVolume1
Hardware Abstraction Layer      Version = "5.1.2600.1106
(xpsp1.020828-1920)"
Total Physical Memory   320.00 MB
Available Physical Memory       86.44 MB
Total Virtual Memory    1.04 GB
Available Virtual Memory        649.89 MB
Page File Space 758.48 MB
Page File       C:\pagefile.sys

Searched the web and microsoft knowledgebase and got
nothing.

I discovered that it is the DHCP Client service that is
causing it as I eliminated the services one by one. It
seems the DHCP polls at regular intervals and spikes the
CPU. But this never happened when I was using Win 2K Pro
before I changed to XP Pro.

This has made it difficult to use my machine. If there is
any answer or solution to my problem, I would be very
happy if you can share it with me.

Thanks!

Best regards.

If you have any faxing software like Winfax...that could
cause a spike. Check the fax service, disable and see if
that helps.
