Windows Explorer Crashes on Opening Folder Containing .jpg Files

Although not exactly like the problem referenced in the
URL below...

http://www.**-**.com/ ;en-
us;Q324474

...my problem is very similar. When I open a folder
with .jpg files Explorer claims an "exception error" and
crashes. The rest of my software is fine and I can even
restart Explorer and continue working just as long as I
don't try to re-open that folder. Its happened with 3
different folders that are full of .jpg photos. It
doesn't happen to all my folders that have .jpg images,
but once it happens once, it will always crash on opening
for the affected folder.

I'm hoping someone has some insight to this problem. Its
making handling my websites and photo directories near
impossible. Thanks!

1.Folders Containing JPEGs crash when opened

I am using a Dell Dimension 8250 running Windows XP SP1
on a 2.4 Ghz processor with 512 Mb RAM and a 120 Gb hard
drive. I have a 128 DDR ATI Radeon 9700 with TV/Out. I
have performed a scandisk (complete), defrag, and virus
scan with updated virus definitions. I have also checked
Windows Update. I am experiencing errors with my folders.
Folders containing JPEG images are giving me errors.
These are sometimes accompanied by messages, but
primarily by the program that I am trying to access the
folders with crashing. This has actually happened to me
before on a couple of different XP machines. It seems if
I attempt to access these folders from PhotoShop 7,
GoLive 6, Windows Explorer or any other program it
crashes. The peculiar thing is that if I move the folder
that is giving me errors into another root folder it
works fine. However, if I attempt to create another
folder within that original folder with the same name as
the folder that was giving me errors I continue to
receive errors if I move files back into that folder. It
doesn't help if I completely recreate the entire folder
structure: I still get those errors. I am assuming it is
a Windows issue since I have experienced it on more than
one computer. Normally this would not pose a problem.
However, I design Web sites and it is very important that
I maintain folder structure, so moving and renaming all
of my folders is not a viable option. Have you any
suggestions???
Thank you in advance.
