 'No preview available'??

i have Windows XP Home Edition on my VAIO laptop.i save
images off the net to My Pictures, but for some reason
only some of them can be displayed.some JPEG/BITMAP files
are fine and show in thumbnail.others when i click on
them or try to open them say 'No Preview Available' and i
cant see the image, just the icon.its driveing me crazy
as i can see theyve been saved but they wont display
anywhere seemingly with any programme.

1.Previewing Jpg's as thumbnails and Image Preview

Good day everyone,

Once again I've got a question for the group.

Has anyone noticed how the standard image preview in Winme just plain
doesn't like some jpg files?

Five out of six files in a series may thumbnail and preview perfectly,
but the sixth doesn't want to know about generating a thumbnail, and
when you try and open it Image Preview very helpfully says that no
preview is available.

Usually said file will open without complaint in another application,
eg MsPaint.

Does anyone know how to overcome this, either a fix for Image Preview
or some treatment for the jpg files that might render them palatable
to Image Preview?

If fixing the files by say opening them in a paint program of some
description and then saving them as Jpgs again might be a solution,
can anyone suggest a program that produces "tight" jpegs, that Image
Preview can handle?

Thanks,

Walter Minne
