 Access Violation at Address 000000

I use the LPT1 (parallel) port to connect and download to
my Samsung YeppE32 MP3 player..... Recently I have
attempted to connect and I receive the following:

 Access Violation at Address 000000

When running Yepp Explorer (MP3 download software) with
my MP3, I am now getting an "Access Violation at Addres
000000".  I recently installed the XP service pack 1 and
my O/S is 5.1.26.  This seems to be something related to
my LPT1 port not communicating like it "used to".....

I set the software up on my Win2000 Laptop to prove that
the player and cable are still good... it worked fine!

How do I even begin to troubleshoot this.  I reinstalled
the software.. no luck.
