Registry settings to autohide taskbar and show Quicklaunch toolbar

Does anyone know where I can enable these? I have to write a script to push
this down to a group of users and there seems to be no way to do it via
Group Policy.

Thanks for any replies!

Why cant they just right click on the toolbar, select properties and adjust
them for themselves?

I haven't found any Group Policy settings for these features, but there
must be a registry key that manages them and you can set these in a
script using regedit and a .reg file to import.

If you don't find a reference on google for these keys, then a registry
monitor and some tweaking should help you discover the location.

Try exporting the registry before and after the change.(Make sure you export
as Win9x/NT4 reg files)
The do a file comparison and redirect the differences to a text file (e.g.
fc before.reg after.reg > diff.txt)

1.Problem: strange taskbar behavior - quicklaunch buttons only work when taskbar is vertical

winxp folk:

hi there, i'm suffering some strange taskbar behavior.  big surprise, right?
well, this is weirder than most of the problems i've seen on the deja
archives.  the problem is this:

after a few days of using the new win xp pro, my taskbar's quicklaunch icons
disappeared.  i unlocked the taskbar and dragged it up a bit and the icons
were still all showing during the dragging, but as soon as i stopped
dragging, they disappeared again.  occasionally i would do this and they
wouldn't disappear, however when i would try to depress any of the
quicklaunch icons, nothing would happen; no depression, no quick launching
of my applications, nothing.  okay, i turned off the quicklaunch toolbar,
turned it back on, same problem.  also, when i try to bring applications to
the front of the desktop by clicking on their associated taskbar buttons,
nothing happens.  right clicking won't give me the usual
minimize/maximize/etc menu either.

now for the weird part...

if i drag the taskbar into a vertical position on either the left or the
right of the desktop, everything appears to work fine.  BUT of course now in
order to see which applications are running the taskbar has to be granted
way too much desktop real estate, since it needs to be dragged wide enough
to read application name text.

so this is weird.  anybody know what's going here?  any help you can offer
will be greatly appreciated.

much thanks in advance,
