Win XP Network printer error - user intervention required

Here is the setup:
Samsung laser printer attached through USB to a Windows XP
Home machine.  The printer is a GDI type(for those of you
who think that may be important)  The XP machine is on a
network with 2 other PC's, a 98SE and an ME machine.  The
latest drivers/patches/updates have been installed on all
components on the network.

Here is the problem:
After the PCs are turned on, all 3 machines can print to
the Samsung printer.  After a period of time passes, the
Samsung is no longer accessible by the 98SE and ME PC.
The error that comes up is "user intervention required".
What is stopping the connection for the other 2 PC's?

Any ideas?
