Hey all PC wizards . . .I'm looking to uncover a dark (possibly .dll) secret. I understand that MS_webcheckmonitor is a hidden Explorer process (not sure whether Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer), and that it uses a considerable amount of memory. I have searched high and low, including in XP Powertools TweakUI, System Information and Microsoft Knowledge Base in order to determine whether it can/should be disabled. Anyone have any wisdom on this subject? Thanks very much.
I've noticed ms_webcheckmonitor (webcheck.dll) is taking up about 20% of my cpu cycle all the time. I know it has something to do with channel subscriptions. Has anyone figured out a way to disable it or atleast change some setting to stop it from taking so much resources?
