 Problems installing Icewind Dale 2

I used to have Icewind Dale 2 installed.  I had to reinstall XP Pro. Now
when I try to reinstall ID2 I get an error "cyclic redundancy check".  Any
ideas to work around this would help.  If I try to start the game from it's
old install, I get "An Assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number 605.
Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:data\GUIfont.bif"  Can anyone tell me
what is going on?  Thanks in advance.

Sounds like there might be a problem with the CD, the CD-
ROM drive, or the drivers for the CD ROM drive.  I had
the same problem when I upgraded from Win-ME to XP Pro -
I updated the CD-ROM drivers, and things worked again.  
Granted, this problem was with Dungeon Siege, not IWD2,
but still...

I've not seen the error since.

Also, IWD2 apparently doesn't like DX9.0.

I understand that there is a known problem with IceWind Dale that Microsoft
addresses in a TechNet article.  The suggested "fix" for the problem is to
use the "Run As" option using an administrative account.  I have tried this
unsuccessfully.  Is anyone running IceWind Dale under Windows XP?
