XP: "Applying your personal settings" takes forever!

For some reason it takes almost 5 minutes to get
past "Applying your personal settings" during a logon.
Yeah it eventually gets in, but I have no idea why it
takes so long. The system is brand new and barely has
anything running on it. Anyone wanna take a swing at this
one?

XP: "Applying your personal settings" takes forever!

Is the machine networked? On a domain? Standalone? I've seen this happen
when DNS settings are misconfigured.
