OE freezes or stops responding at startup

When I start OE it stops responding and the only thing I
can do is shut it down or end the program. I do know what
is causing it. When OE start, it logs onto the mail server
to retrieve the mail. The problem is that the server no
longer exists and OE doesn't know how to handle it.
Can I change the server name and account info to log to
the server without having to start OE? How?
Can I simply reinstall OE over the existing copy without
wiping out all my mailboxes and data within the boxes? How?
I also would like to know where OE stores its data file.
ie: inbox and other mailboxes, email content and
attachments.

1.OE Stops Responding

I set up 2 additional identities in my OE, then switched to one of them.
Some mail imported okay.
Now when I open OE, it freezes.  I looked up article 274017 and it gives
instructions on fixing the registry because of the following problem:

"This issue can occur because when you switch identities, Outlook Express
creates a DWORD registry value under the Identities subkey in the registry.
This DWORD value has a title of Changing and a value of 0.

When Outlook Express hangs when an identity is changed, this DWORD value is
not removed. As a result, Outlook Express does not start properly, and is
caught in the transition between identities."

I followed the instructions for opening regedit, and located the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Identities folder.  Unfortunately, it then directs me to
delete the Identities subkey 'Changing', which doesn't exist in that  folder
or
any of the other OE related registry folders.

I do have 3 REG_DWORD files in the folder.  They are:
Identity Login
Identity Ordinal
Migrated5

There are also some REG_SZ files that reference the identity:
Last User ID
Last Username

Anybody know what I should delete to fix this problem??  I don't have much
of anything in either of the 2 identities, so if I need to delete all the
registry entries for both of them, leaving only my Main Identity, I am
willing to do that.

I apologize again for posting this question on an existing thread.  I didn't
notice that my pop-up blocker was preventing me from adding a new question.

Thanks for any help provided.
